‪I visited Bambu Guest House (also highly recommended!) for a four day yoga retreat, which included a tour of Atitlan Organics. A lot of our delicious food at Bambu was coming from this farm, and we were all excited to see where it came from. We had a great time touring the beautiful farm with Shad, and we learned so much! We all left with a deep appreciation for permaculture farming, and many of us I think left with our own thoughts and dreams about how we can start to integrate some of this knowledge into our own lives. Edifying and inspiring!‬

‪The past July I completed the 2 week Permaculture design course with Atitlan Organics and it was such an incredible experience. All of the instructors are overflowing with wisdom and knowledge. The course was extremely well balanced between lectures and hands-on experience, as well as facilitating experiences for involvement with the local community. We stayed half of the time at Bamboo Guest House, and this place is so amazing! Fully equipped rooms, a terrace overlooking the lake, (perfect for a morning yoga/meditation practice- they even have mats, bolsters, cushions, and other props!), and the food was SO GOOD. Unique plates, all farm-to-table, clearly made with a lot of intention and love. Big Ups to Shad for holding it down so nicely!‬

‪Shad has really created something special in Atitlan Organics—and he’d be the first to say it’s all much bigger than him, and of course it is, but it’s his vision and drive that have brought it all to life. I did a 2-week PDC course with Atitlan Organics and feel so so lucky to have had the chance to do so. I learned a ton, and it gave me real tools and knowledge to build a foundation from which to keep learning (which I’d say is what a great PDC course should do). Plus I met and connected with some incredible people—both locals of Lago Atitlan, Tzununa, and the surrounding areas, along with people from all over the world. Couldn’t recommend enough as a place to learn, be inspired, experience this part of Guatemala in a real and unique way, and connect with some amazing people—Shad definitely included. He’s such a great and inspiring guy, and it’s a gift to meet him and connect with him.‬

‪The four of us recently returned from our Girls Guatemala trip. We stayed at four different places over 8 days:

1. Atitlan Organics - Tzununa Lake Atitlan
2. Lush Hotel - San Marcos Lake Atitlan
3. Hotel Hobbitenengo - Antigua
4. D'Leyenda Hotel - Antigua

Atitlan Organic's Bambu House was our first stop for three nights and we loved it the best. The location was out of the way not in the thick of town which makes it quite peaceful. It is located up on a hill so there will be lots of walking or you can take a tuktuk. The room that they gave us four girls was great, we had our own bathroom shower, and toilet. The design of the room was beautiful and simple as it had only been recently built in the last 4 years. The beds were nice, the comforters and pillows were quite good! Sometimes the shower water didn't get hot enough but that's ok, you take quick showers and your good to go. Bring earplugs you can hear sounds very well. The morning views towards the lake are beautiful and peaceful. The good sounds are from the running river which the lodging is right next to.

The location is excellent because you are located where the local people live so you can see them doing their laundry at the river which gets pretty busy with ladies and girls trying to find a spot to wash their family laundry. It's good because it makes the area less touristy and more integrated with the local community. This is important to me. But as such, it is way less developed in terms of the community. You see a more authentic part of their daily living. A valuable part of the experience for being here for sure.

The staff are spanish only speaking and are very friendly with non-native speakers. The owner Shad is very kind and allowed us to tour his beautiful garden which is where where our greens were coming from. The tastiest organic salads ever, wow! The food is incredibly fresh and tasty. It will be the healthiest you experience on your travels because you are essentially staying on an organic farm.

The cost for three nights where we added on meals, snacks, for breakfast and dinners averaged to be under $100 USD per person. It was by far the best deal and the most relaxing spot for us with the best freshest food.

I found out about Atitlan Organics Bambu house because I was researching gardening methods on Youtube and saw Shad's video. The bambu house will not be advertised as a regular hotel because it's really for the guests who are coming to take agriculture classes. If you can make it here, you don't want to miss out on the hospitality, beauty, and fresh food. Enjoy your travels and best of luck to the Atitlan Organics! Say hi to little Gabriel for us!‬

‪Atitlan Organics is located in Tzununa, in the famous Atitlan Lake, which is very enjoyable as a whole.
The place is made according to permaculture principles, so it is indeed very inspiring and beautiful for itself, there is a lot to learn about design, animals, plantsetc.
We've been welcomed there by Shad, a talented and amazing person who we could listen to for hours.
Plants and animals also are very nice, and the food very good ^^
I strongly recommend a visit there !‬

‪I had the most amazing experience doing the 2 week PDC at Atitlan Organics. The lectures, experiential learning activities, accommodations, and food were all fantastic. The community was so diverse and welcoming and fosters an environment in which everyone truly wants to learn, share, grow, and make the earth a better place. I left feeling so inspired and empowered. I highly recommend Atitlan Organics and their PDC course to anyone who wants to learn amazing skills, gain a new perspective on our interactions with the land, and who wants to experience Guatemala in a completely unique and authentic way.‬

‪The Friday Farm Tour is way more than just a tour! Shad gives such an in-depth and fascinating presentation on landscape, ecology, and design that you end up learning a ton while having a great time. If you're lucky to see some baby goats while on the tour they are super cute! And the lunch at the Bambu Guest House is so yummy and delicious. Worth it for the food alone!‬

‪Both me and my son did the Permaculture introductory course it was a great experience. We both got inspired to start planting and having chicken. We now grow our vegetables, reforest the mountain, take care of the permaculture principles. Shad is an amazing teacher that really inspires from his heart. Nicolas is also great and came to help with ideas for reforesting a very steep mountain. I got plants there to start new trees. You can also buy great quality eggs and vegetables. The greens are delicious. If you come to Tzununá visit Atitlán Organics on Fridays!!‬
