‪With fantastic views of scenery and being engulfed into nature. It’s a good hike/walk to the falls. With clear signage around. Just take the steep stairs with caution.‬

‪The general area looks pretty tired but the lady in the info centre was pleasant and helpful. Recommended we drive a short distance down and take the 5 minute walk to the viewing area. We did this and there are about 90 odd steps to negotiate. We managed okay but anybody with balance issues or somewhat frail would have trouble. The falls are pretty and the bush is very nice. Worth a look - but unless reasonably fit would suggest the short walk is the best option rather than going right to the base of the falls‬

‪A visit to Dawson Falls is a must when in the Egmont Regional Park. It's a short walk from the visitor centre and is free for all people. There is a viewing platform opposite the falls and you can also walk down some steep steps to get to the base. A very idyllic spot indeed.‬

‪The Dawson Falls are near the visitor centre at the end of Manaia Rd in the Egmont National Park. Leave your car in the car park at the visitor centre and walk back down the road to the start of the walks to the Falls. You can access them via the Kapuni Loop Track, or the short walk from the road directly into the falls. We turned into the Kapuni Loop Track, investigated the falls, then came directly out to the road. We should have just gone in and out on the shortest route from/to the road. The Kapuni Loop Track was very muddy and we did not find it that interesting. The falls can be viewed from the top and you can also climb down to the bottom, where the best views are. Signage is very clear.
Worth seeing the falls, but if we went again we would just use the shortest route in and out.‬

‪Very cool trees. Feels like the setting of a fantasy movie/novel. It’s well worth going down the steep steps to the base of the waterfall.‬

‪We are on a roadtrip from Palmy to New Plymouth with our puppies and we had every intention of stopping at sites along the way to see the countryside. We saw the turn off to Dawson Falls and took the winding road on to it, HUGELY DISAPPOINTED to get to the entrance after a painful half n hr just to see a sign saying no dogs allowed, not even in cars??? I get DOCs drive to protect the wildlife etc. But why??? Why not put that sign at the turn off instead of wasting our time the entire trip there? There was plenty of opportunity to put signs up along the drive and yeah not everyones a dog owner but 40% of the population own dogs alone so please put signs up for our sake rather than have us driving out just wanting to check out the scenery and missing out.‬

‪When visiting the south east side of Mt Egmont than it is a must to visit the dawson falls. So we did. Drive to the Visitor Center to park the car and than walk dwon the road again to find the trail to the falls. The falls look nice and good pictures can be taken.‬

‪The waterfall at Dawson Falls is certainly worth the hike down a steep slope - good shoes are necessary. But the most stunning part is the long and winding road to Dawson Falls. We made more photos there than around the waterfall! The forest - more of a jungle - most be a left over from the last ice age. Eery and beautiful at the same time!‬

‪Stunning spot which is well worth the effort. Beautiful walk (not too far from the road). Steps leading down and back up to the falls are quite steep so a certain level of fitness would be required. The viewing point for those who didn’t venture down was a little overgrown and therefore slightly disappointing.

Would definitely recommend. ‬

‪Fantastically situated right under the dormant Mt. Teranaki volcano. Picturesque doesn’t come close. The food and accommodation were first rate, if not better. The staff were very friendly and a real laugh!‬
