The state museum is just the spot you need to hit if you want to assimilate the diverse state of Arunachal Pradesh. The museum does a good job in exhibiting the daily life and culture of the various tribes in Arunachal Pradesh. The first floor has a good show on the history of Arunachal Pradesh. For a place that charges Rs 20 entrance fee, this place is gold standard!
Check out the book shop they have at the entrance. It has a lovely collection of literature on the tribal life of Arunachal including folk tales, culture, history etc.
Shout out to the officials at the museum, who do the best they can. They are really sweet and friendly! It was a pity to see tourists haggling even for the meagre entrance fee.

Very intersting place to visit--gives you a good idea of life in that part of India. takes only about 30mintujes for a quick walk-through--but can spendlonger if specifically interested. Some unique artefacts on display.

its just a small museum where you wil find many historical & traditional items of Arunachal Pradesh & other northeast speciality . one must visit this place to understand more of Northeastern states

The sculptures displayed here were true masterpieces of Indian art. There were stone works which depicted scenes from the Puranas and the Epics.

An excellently maintained museum.
Visit if you are on leisure trip to Ittanagar.
A large number of Statues are placed here. If you observe attentively, you are sure to be bowled by the body proportions & facial expressions on every statue.
Several other exhibits too may catch your fancy

I had been to many museum in the country but no hitch in stating that state museum at Itanagar the capital city of Arunachal is the best tribal museum of India. Excellent area wise almost live depiction of tribal culture with top class maintainance never seen in a museum. Also a good collection of books on tribal culture available over the counter. Must not miss this place.

A Museum in Itanagar established in 1980 covers showcases aspects of tribal life of Arunachal Pradesh which includes clothing, headdress, weapons, handicraft, music instruments, jewellery and other artifacts of daily use and culture. The ground floor houses an extensive ethnographic collection, including traditional art, musical instruments, religious objects, and handicrafts, like wood carving and cane products and the first floor has archaeological objects found in Ita Fort, Noksparbat and Malinithan in West Siang district. While visiting it could be learnt that In 2011, Tapi Mra, the first person from the state to scale Mt. Everest, donated his entire expedition gear to the museum.

Jawaharlal Nehru Museum can rightly be said as a treasure trove of history of the state of arunachal, it has a beautiful collection of artifacts as well as diaromas of various tribal community of the state which gives an insight about other people of this hilly region.
It also has its rich collection of research publications under Dept of research and can be much enriching by paying a visit to the museum.
