During my visit to this location with my family, we discovered a plethora of enjoyable activities and game areas within the dam's premises. These included boating, a park, and a garden, as well as a pleasant walk leading up to the dam. Although the dam cache area was vast, it was not possible to walk across the dam itself. Nonetheless, we were treated to a spectacular view from the top of the dam.

A mini bus tour takes visitors to dam entrance, then to garden .An evening fountain show is an added attraction..On Sundays and holidays, it is crowded,best is to visit during weekdays.Bus service is really helpful.

Visiting this place was an utter waste of time and energy. It is so poorly maintained that you feel really disgusted by time you are done. There is plenty to walk, no signage boards, no lighting when it is dark ( we literally had to cross a bridge across the river in pitch darkness). The musical fountain is an absolute waste of time. This tourist destination could have been something spectacular, but instead is in shambles due to the apathy of the management. Don't waste your time here.

We visited this place as part of our Hampi trip on a Tuesday evening. Very nice place. The dam view is fantastic. You can see the sunset there. I was not too fond of the garden, not maintained properly. Private buses are there to take you to the Dam and view points.

We visited this place as part of our Hampi itinerary on a Saturday evening. It is maintained well except for the private mini bus ride inside the premises which is only interested in making maximum trips with no value for its passengers.
To get to the watch tower which is 3km from the main entrance to the Dam, the bus takes Rs.20 per head. We had to wait for 25 mins till they filled the bus! That was an utter waste of time. Once we reached the watch tower, the bus waited for less than 5 mins and then took its passengers to the park and musical fountain which is below closer to the main entrance for tourists. We walked down from the watch tower because we wanted to enjoy the views and take in the spectacular dam. The road till the watch tower is tarred. However, people might find it difficult to walk this distance so plan accordingly.
You can visit the view point for the dam closer to the main entrance as well as go to the park and musical fountain without using the bus ride. Only the view from the watch tower needs a bit of a walk.
Though we didn't visit the musical fountain, we could hear English and Hindi songs being played on our way down from the watch tower.

Terrible place. You have to board the buses, which are old and poorly maintained to reach the top. Without any proper management, the whole place is in a mess. One should not even bother to travel down there if travelling with kids or elderly

To reach it, you need to park your vehicle at the main gate and take a bus with minimal fare (Rs 20 per head) to reach dam view point. There is no discipline in boarding the buses that ply the visitors to the top area and back to the gates.
There are three spots at various levels where the bus drops you. The top hills for the excellent view, the bridge itself and the garden. Bus is hop-on-hop-off.
At 7PM there is a light show, but as it was raining we did not wait to watch it.
Personally, i feel either I did not cover it properly or the place is just average at best. I felt it was a waste of time and not worth the effort.

Nice walk up to the dam. Dam cache area is huge. Cannot walk over dam. But a nice view from the top of the dam.

If you can please avoid visiting this place. Only if children are with you you/they can enjoy.

From where we can take mini bus to go to the tungbhadra dam??? Timings also plz mention.

The location is in the previous reply. As far as timings are concerned, if the bus gets filled with passengers, it is an immediate departure else they wait at least for 10 passengers. This indicates that if it is crowded you might even have to wait for your turn. But the last trip is at 1730 Hrs as the gates close by 1800 Hrs is what they had told us.

How will be the climate? Is water there in Tungabhadra dam?
Are Boat facilities available in Hampi?

Its really very basic and not up to the mark. You can avoid it. Enjoy the view and sunset from the Dam top and return back.

It wud take about an hour and a half at leisure. Better to go during evening.
