Without realising, we probably booked the best date for a tour of this wonderful vineyard - the week before grape picking!
The sun was out, the sky was blue, the birds were twittering…idyllic. Along with 24 others (obviously a popular date) we were given an introduction to how this vineyard came about in this glorious corner of the Dorset countryside.
Now I personally have been to numerous vineyards in California, South Africa, France, Australia ..even Chile…so I’m pretty clued up on what makes a good vineyard tour…it’s the personal touch..and your hosts here know exactly how.
We enjoyed a lovely walk through the vines - tasting the odd grape off the vine..and then strolling back to the tasting room with a choice of 3 excellent British sparkling wines (made in the champagne method) on offer to taste.
Of course…if you are anything like me..I rarely touch alcohol (medication reasons), but my small sips of two told me these wines do deserve their accolades …
it’s the personal touch…so much so, I bought a vineyard tour voucher as a Christmas gift for a family member.

What a lovely way to spend an afternoon! The owners were so welcoming and enthusiastic to share the wonderful venture! We learnt lots, sampled a few wines and came away with a few bottles!

We had a wonderful time on a tour at the vineyard. Owners Andrew and Sarah, as well as their two beautiful dogs, were extremely welcoming. The tour was very interesting, and to see the abundance of grapes on the vines before being harvested in October was perfect! A very worthwhile time to visit. After testing the award winning sparkling wines, we carried home a couple of bottles, of course it would have been rude not to have done! Many thanks Andrew and Sarah for a wonderful visit and we will highly recommend you to our guests at Spurwing Guest House in Wareham!👏

A wonderful afternoon spent at English Oak - highly recommended, as interesting, humorous and Sarah and Andrew are very natural and engaging hosts.

We live in challenging times, so it was wonderful to spend a precious few uplifting hours in the tranquil setting of the English Oak Vineyard with Andrew and Sarah to learn about their extraordinary journey creating world class English Sparkling Wine. Both are stylish presenters and great story tellers and it was absolutely captivating to learn about the process and taste the wines. Life is all about creating special memories and this is one of the best. It was educational, entertaining and a feast for the senses. Moreover, you don't have to be a wine buff to really enjoy the occasion. Andrew and Sarah are really in tune with their environment and their audience and if they don't have their own "Escape to Matravers" TV show within a couple of years, I would be amazed. Recommended unreservedly.

We had a really informative a lovely tour, guided by the most passionate people. The setting was beyond my expectations and so was the wine 😉

Fabulous way to spend a couple of hours. Andrew and Sarah were informative and entertaining. How English Oak Vineyard was established is a tale worth hearing, and it was fascinating to learn how the different wines are made. Not forgetting the tasting, which was delightful, albeit a little worrying for the driver! Well worth doing

Superb. Informative tour conducted by the owners Sarah and Andrew. Their passion for the vineyard shines through and interesting to hear of their experiences from the start of a concept to present day. Fantastic location- highly recommended

You arrive to a welcome greeting and sit in a beautiful little amphitheatre in lovely and humble surroundings. The talk is informative and interesting, no question is too much trouble, and given by the hosts who are clearly both passionate about what they’ve achieved and what they’re continuing to create moving forward. The tasting is well managed with clear careful explanation and the sparkling wine itself is delicious - it is very very good quality. The vineyard itself is beautiful, set in delightful surroundings, taking advantage of the great terroir. The lovely trees provide a beautiful framing of this lovely farm - which is practical and operational and far from ostentatious - which other champagne houses can be. I thought the value from the interesting tour and generous tasting made for a bargain. We had a great time.

Great time learning about Sarah and Andrews experience starting and managing a lovely vineyard. Really lovely couple of hrs on the tour with a great wine tasting session at the end. The different sparkling wines are truly excellent.
