Tour began at 10 am sharp. I was with a group of 4 friends and a father/daughter joined our group for a total of 6. Meshach was our guide and we were each giving a btl of water before we began learning about different plants grown on the island. Then we hopped into his truck and went out to the fields. There we met Patrick - a farmer. He took us through the fields and told us how they harvest. He had a long bamboo pool with him that had a hook like a hitch-hiker thumb to cut the fruit from the trees. We were able to use this to cut the beans down ourselves. Then he opened one up and we were able to suck on the white beans inside of them (tasted like mango!) From there we returned to the estate and walked through all of the steps for fermenting, drying, sorting, and packaging the chocolate. On our tour they were cleaning the facilities so we weren't able to walk on the beans like many other tours. We also learned a lot about Nutmeg and how it is processed too. We were then served a Chocolate Tea (which was the best hot chocolate I've ever had!). Meshach then took us to the chocolate factory where we met Chef Roland. Roland took us into his kitchen and showed us how the bean is cooked, shelled, crushed, and pressed and how the butter is extracted. He took us around to the cold kitchen and explained in detail how the chocolate is then cooked under pressure, cooled, tempered, and finally made into bars. During this process, we were able to sample some of the chocolate from the kitchen. Then we made our own bar and went shopping in the store. Finally, Meshach took us to the restaurant for lunch.
Octavia was out waitress. She started by giving us each a fresh btl of water. Appetizers and desert and served at the table and the main course is buffet style. We started with a choice between bean soup or plainain soup (both were amazing), followed by fish kabobs with a chocolate sauce (they made a mistake and forgot to bring us these so instead we each got 2 deserts). Next we had lunch - This is different every day. I had a curry chicken and some type of fish which were both amazng! There were 4 salad/fruits, rice, and several veggies to choose from at the buffet. We were served a chocolate banana shake with our meal. Foe desert I had a lemon cake with cinnimon ice cream. This was one of my favorite meals from my entire trip to the island! The atmospher, the weather, the people, the food... everything was perfect.
We had an amazing day and I'm so glad we opted for the longer, more in-depth tour. 2 hours of this tour is lunch, so the tour itself is only 1 hour longer than the other tour, but the cost of lunch with the extras is included.
** If you have picky eaters (kiddos), I don't think they would like lunch. Its very local. Had my own kids been with me one would have left hungry.

After the tour we walked around the grounds and saw some birds, donkeys, goats, and even some Moma monkeys.

Wally from the glass bottom boat made our snorkeling experience the best one we have had. He was amazing and really enjoyed showing us around and sharing all he knew about the island.

Very bustling part of Grenada. Lots of shops and culture in the Carenage. Beautiful boats and local culture!

Well worth a visit to appreciate the views, both over the town and inland. The town views encompass the new government house, the harbour and the town itself. Views inland give Mountain Views and were the direction the guns were directed. Fort is worth a wander giving an idea of the fortifications on the island and indeed the region. There are toilets!

Completed by the French in 1710 and taken over by the British in 1763 following the French and Indian War (Seven Years War) fought for control of territory in the New World. It was also the site of the end of the Grenada Revolution in 1983. Fort George offers commanding views of the town, harbor and the surrounding coast. It is a modestly strenuous hike to get up here. It is worth visiting for the views alone. However, I deducted a point as the views are a 5 but the way the facility is managed is a 2. The Fort is getting renovated and most of it wasn't open for touring. Only a couple observation points were accessible. However, this did not stop them from still charging an entrance fee without informing me about the closures. When I politely requested by money back after returning to the entrance, I was rudely disregarded.

Informative tour of the gardens, followed a delightful tea and cakes. Beautifully calm and a real joy. A house straight out of a Du Maurier or Christie novel.

Try the blue tea and seville orange juice.

Market Square in the center of St George's is a colorful area where you can find vegetables, fruits and spices being sold by vendors. There were more locals than tourists wandering around on the Saturday I visited. We also came by Friday afternoon and early evening, and it was a different vibe. We had a great time hanging out at Bryan's Bar drinking Caribs and rum but were continuously pestered by the local homeless characters asking for money. There were a number of sketchy folks around and I wouldn't want to hang out late at night here. However, this did not prevent us from having a good time.

Situated just outside the cruise terminal his tunnel led us through to some lovely buildings in the inner Harbour.
You have to be careful of the traffic but it doesn't move very fast

Large trays of cocoa beans dry in the sun, which the workers turn with their feet. Inside, a local provides samples and descriptions of all the various spices. Don't forget to stick a buck or two in her tip box. Pretty cool to see where the spices originate. Restrooms are in back of the main building.

Seat of the Catholic Diocese of St George, this historic church sits on top of a hill with a commanding position overlooking the town and harbor. The church can be seen from numerous points throughout town. The bell tower was completed in 1818 and the church was able to be rebuilt following Hurrican Ivan in 2004.

It was constructed in 1825. Beautiful stained glass inside with great wooden pews. There was a Catholic Church on the same site about 2 centuries before.

Grenada seems to be enjoying an economic boom from nutmegs. This was an old time plant but still interesting. We bought alot of nutmeg products here and also had nutmeg ice cream at dinner. Fun!

Apart from the historical importance of this place and a fairly good viewpoint where the last of the Carib Indians leapt to their deaths rather than surrender to the French, there's little to recommend it. You need to park between the school and the church and then walk through the cemetery to find the spot. It has an impressive and fairly new monument to tell you about it but there's nothing else...

Completed in 1833, this beautiful church was almost completely destroyed by Hurrican Ivan in 2004 with only the historic bell tower left standing. The church has since been rebuilt and reopened although now with a simple and modest interior. Nice views when visiting nearby Fort George.
