what is the importance of Safa and Marwa?
It’s the place where BiBi Hajra wife of Hazrat Ibrahim ran in between those mountains looking for water for her son Hazrat Ismail who was a baby. She ran 7 times between these mountains looking for water for her baby In that scorching heat of desert while her husband was away obeying Allah s command. So as Hazrat Ismail cried and rubbed his feet on the mountain so zamzam water came out. And it flows until today and will till the judgement day qiyamat.
So Allah loves this Amal of bibi Hajra so much that it is part of umrah. These days it’s all air conditioned so it s easy for Muslims to run between these today but back in the days she ran in a scorching heat of desert sand alone with her new born so it’s a big thing. And Allah blessed them with this well water of zamzam. I hope this information helps.
The Sa‘ee between As-Safa and Al-Marwah is one of the pillars of Hajj and ‘Umra. Historically in Islam it remind us of the story of Hagar the wife of prophet Ibrahim, who was left with her son behind in the desert and was looking for water to give it to her son running between these two site till Allah SWT reward her by Zamzam well which is still running till our days and it is the cleanest water you could ever drink. These site have been mentioned in Quran.
I believe you have seen some great response , please make sure during all this keep eye on your family as there is area where you have green light men have to run fast and that’s the moment sometimes families miss their members, be careful May Allah bless you all who have responded
Behold! Safa and Marwa are among the Symbols of Allah. So if those who visit the House in the Season or at other times, should compass them round, it is no sin in them. And if any one obeyeth his own impulse to good,- be sure that Allah is He Who recogniseth and knoweth.
— Surah 2, Al-Baqarah, Ayah158[1]
I don’t know much but I know you run or walk around Safa 4 times and around Marwah 3 times. I hoped that helped a bit. Perhaps a lot, I just will never know. All I know is that I know someone will use this fact I contributed here. This is an old questions anyway, so probably no-one will read this. Like or reply to this if you do.
Islamic tradition. In Islamic tradition, Abraham (Ibrahim) was commanded by God to leave his wife Hagar (Hajar) and their infant son, Ishmael (Isma'il), alone in the desert between Safa and Marwa. When their provisions were exhausted, Hagar went in search of help or water.
The purpose behind sa‘i is to remember the story of the mother of Ismaa‘eel: when Ibraaheem (peace be upon him) left her (may Allah be pleased with her) and her son in this place, and he left a skin of water and a bag of dates with her; the mother began to eat the dates and drink the water, and she breastfed her son. Then the water and dates ran out, so she became hungry and thirsty, and her milk dried up. The infant became hungry, and began to cry with hunger. She found herself in a difficult position. She saw that the nearest mountain to her was as-Safa, so she went to as-Safa and began to listen out in the hope that she would hear someone, but she heard no one. So she came and headed the other way, towards al-Marwah. When she came down to the bottom of the valley, she could no longer see her son, so she started running fast, until she climbed up so that she could see her son. She climbed up to listen out from al-Marwah, but she did not hear anything. She continued like this until she had done this seven times. Then she heard a sound, but she did not know what it was. Then she saw that Jibreel had come down by Allah’s command, and he struck the ground with his wing or his foot in the place where Zamzam is now…
It's long history, since Nabi Ibrahim a.s. it's better to read on Google and get full knowledge.
green lights between safa nd marwa why peoples run fast there
Recent theories on Islamic history indicate that the original location was in Petra, Jordan, and not Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The Mecca location would thus be a replication of the original site, created after the Ka'ba was moved from Petra to Mecca, more than a century after the life of the Prophet Muhammad, PBUH.
It is main part also of omra
