We came as a group of cyclist and find the place very convenient. It is not very close to downtown, but was no problem for us as we could cycle there easily (not far). The kitchen is nice and modern and provide nice atmosphere when you sit there having some meal/snack. Also, the manager is very helpful/kind. We would surely stay again at this place if we ever comeback to Yoichi
Guest House Yoichi is located about 2.5 kms inland from Yoichi train station. It is beside the quiet R755 - a little traffic during the day, very quiet at night. There are soft, low hills and many orchards and vineyards in the surrounding countryside. Yoichi town is friendly and laid-back with a number of onsen (the biggest and most modern, with sea-facing rotemburu, being Tsurukame Onsen heading east out of Yoichi beside R5 - just before a Lawsons convini). I stayed 3 nights at Guesthouse Yoichi while waiting to catch the Shin Nihonkai ferry at Otaru. Yoichi Guesthouse opened in May 2017, so all the fixtures and furniture are brand new. It is very simple accommodation, but more than adequate: the rooms have a low table, cushions and a wash basin (rooms are not tatami, though sleeping is on futons). There is a very well-equipped kitchen on the ground floor (you can buy delicious fresh fish and fruits & vegetables at Kakizaki farmers' market) and a number of different seating areas around the place. There is even a karaoke set-up... Rooms are non-smoking and there is a separate small smoking room, or one can smoke outside. Wifi is available, but it is much better in the rooms nearer the router - 201,202,203 and 207, 208. There are no shops nearby. The nearest supermarket - the Co-op - is maybe 4kms away as are convinis. Kakikazi farmers' market is near the station and Nikka distillery. At the time of writing, the place is run by the very friendly Shoji, who speaks quite reasonable English. He is extremely helpful: he helped me book a number of future hotels and - as the guest house was not busy - allowed me to check out very late (around 2:30pm) on my day of departure. Shoji told me that weekdays are not usually busy, and I paid 4500 yen for my room booked just a day before my arrival. However, it is always better to plan ahead especially for weekend bookings (and I see that current prices for the guest house are 9000 yen. Such prices can easily be avoided, but one has to plan well ahead!). Nice place in a nice town!…
