On our annual roadtrip, we decided to drive down from Jamshedpur to Meghalaya & stay in Shillong. We booked Roinam retreat & it was the best decision we could have made. With a view of Barapani & tents and rooms spaced out well across the property, it was serene, peaceful & just what we wanted. The kitchen tossed up excellent khasi cuisine...especially the Dohniiong. We stayed there for 4 nights and the staff was very efficient. The pool was sparkling clean even though there were occasional premonsoon showers. Poolside is a nice place to sit in the evening & enjoy your drink.
One of the worst experiences I have had at a hotel. There is no proper lighting at the hotel which is in the middle of a forest. There is no restaurant at the hotel. Only two choices were given for breakfast. The staff is very limited. There was too much noise made by the staff. Since the place is in the middle of the forest, the voice echoes. The heater was not working properly. The bed was not clean. Kindly, avoid.
We were in roinam retreat for two days amidst the tensions in Assam and Shillong. We are really grateful to the staff especially Mr. Chettri at roinam retreat to help us in time of need and give us a place to stay the night when we were unable to reach our hotel ( Polo Towers) in the Shillong city due to the protests in the city center and when Hotel Polo Towers refused to help us. Roinam Retreat is a very quiet place near umiam lake where you can just sit by the pool and soak in the nature and the view of the umiam lake. You can take a boat ride in the lake also. There are different types of rooms, some are tent like and others are treehouse kinds. The rooms are nice and cozy. You will get everything served at the room and poolside also if you want. The staff is very prompt and really hard working. In case you plan to visit shillong, you can keep one or two days probably towards the end of your trip to stay here, since its near umiam lake and closer to Guwahati.…
Visited Roinam Retreat and spent 3 nights at this beautiful place. The family tent had all modern facilities and the view of the fir trees and the glittering water of Umiam Lake is worth your money. The complimentary breakfast was limited in choice but well made. The infinity pool facing Umiam Lake is a breathtaking site. Compliments to the Chef for making the best pork curry in Khasi and Nepali style. Was happy with the service provided by Khem Chettri and his staff. Would recommend all to visit this place to relax and walk down to the nearby villages.
The family room at Roinam Retreat was the perfect last night stop for us in Meghalaya. We woke up to a lovely sprawling view of the lake as a treat. Food is slightly over priced for its quality but the staff were friendly & service was good.
