Great scout camp and base for loads of activities. Nice facilities, good camping pitch, only one main camp fire but a number of bbqs. Steam strain passes by. New marquee has been put up to use as a communal shelter in bad weather.
We have been coming back to Plas Dolygaer year on year to run our navigation courses and its a great base. It is a self catering bunkhouse, but the location is great, with a number of different routes available straight out the front door. There is plenty of parking, which can be secured if you wish. It does have Wi-Fi, although can trip out if too many people connect to it. Phone reception is basically non existent and therefore the Wi-Fi was our main means to let family know we had all arrived ok. The bedrooms are ok, better than sleeping outside, but definitely not as good as home. Bathroom facilities are ok, although could do with slightly better showers. The kitchen is more than adequate for catering even large groups. We had around 24 people and a good cook and no major issues. The place is also owned by the local scout area and therefore great to put something back into the community. Same time next year?…
