We made reservations at this campgrounds...well, not quite reservations. • The owner said, "Call a week ahead, and I'll fit you in". When we got here, there was only one site left and a walk-in could have gotten it two minutes earlier! So, have a plan B. To avoid unhooking after we set up, we went into town to restock fresh veggies at the AG store before going to the campgrounds. The campgrounds has a box to pay at the entrance if there is no one at the office. We had a very helpful fellow, Phillip meet us and guide us to our site. Pay cash or check. Site was nearly level. Very easy to access. Bathhouse very clean with pay showers 1 loonie for 4 minutes and free toilets. There were gazebos and horseshoe pits. And there is a golf course next door. It was quiet overnight. A great spot for a one night stay.…
We came from USA Yellowstone heading up to the Banff National Park. The campground was clean, close to the Highway, and next to the Milk Elk Visitor Center. Kaitlin at the Visitor center, helped us to settle our trip to the national parks in Alberta. Getting camprounds reserved (as we travelled in the busiest time), booked our rafting trips .... Therefore this campground was perfect for us.
We stayed at this campground for three nights while on a trip across southern Alberta to view birds, animals and scenery. The campground is located right in the town of Milk River along the river and right beside the golf course. Many of the sites include power, water and sewer for only $30.00 per night. Also many of these sites are pull through which makes it very easy. There are quite a few trees in the campground so there is usually at least partial shade. Sites are generally close together and not too private from each other, but when we stayed there it was not too busy so this was not a factor. Washrooms are good with good coin operated showers. There is usually no one at the small office, but one can just pick an available site and move in. Richard, the manager/attendant will catch up to you at some point. This campground lacks the scenic wildness of Writing On Stone, but it certainly is a decent place to spend the night if passing through Milk River, or spending a few days in the area.…
This small campground is nestled on the banks of the Milk River beside a golf course. Close to the US border, this provided a convenient stop for the night on our way north. The spots were spacious, some shade was available and the restrooms were large and clean. As in many campgrounds, the showers were coin operated so American travelers need to be prepared with loonies. We arrived after hours but the campground manager came by in the morning to collect the fee of $25 (water and electric). This would make a convenient camp for southern Alberta adventures, especially if Writing on Stone Provincial Park campground is full.
