The site has 6 cabins. Its is entirely self sufficient, in terms of power and water and there is a large communal area and kitchen with fire pit.
Its a great place to have a "camping" experience for kids or large groups.
The positives are the cabins are aesthetically beautiful, the location means a large group can be together, the fire pit is fantastic and there is a beautiful and very large dining table meaning big groups can dine together.
The site to hire is approximately $1000 a day. I think this is where the offering for Spicers Hidden Peaks comes unstuck. For that amount of money anywhere else, even for a large group with 6 rooms you get a lot more for your money elsewhere, you really are paying for the experience, but in my opinion, you could get more out of another glamping service.
The reason I say that is, it's sold as luxury glamping, but the only thing luxury about it is the fact they use Loccitane products.
You get 3 towels per cabin - we were there for 4 days out in the dirt, so to me this wasn't a great service and such as easy fix. We were there with kids, one had a night accident and there were no facilities or additional sheets to change - no laundry facilities to be able to wash them either, so this was really inconvenient. Also they are not real beds - they are kind of like futon mattresses on top of wooden boxes, so you really do feel as if you've been sleeping rough. Its not comfortable at all and it became a bit of a problem for all of the adults after 3 nights.
The showers only give hot water for 4 minutes at a time, again not a problem for the experience but for what you pay, not exactly luxury. The lighting around the site doesn't work, so at night time you need torches to walk between cabins. With kids, this was really awkward and something that should be fixed. Although fenced, the property is fenced with barb wire, so we still needed to make sure the kids didn't trip or go near the fence line. And although they provide bins for you to put your rubbish in and they recycle food scraps which we love, you need to drive for a bit over a kilometre to put your rubbish in their bins - they don't come and empty the large bins at the end of your stay. For the money you pay, I just think this is a bit much of an expectation. If you're going to market something as a luxury experience, then don't make your guests cart their rubbish in their cars down to your skip bins.
If this was priced appropriately for their expectations and the non-existent service they provide, for an off grid experience - perfect. But I felt very ripped off at the end of my stay for what I ended up paying.

رد من Bibi B، Manager في Spicers Hidden Peaks Cabins
تم الرد بتاريخ 13 فبراير 2020
Hi Nyssa, Thank you very much for sharing your experience at Hidden Peaks with us and reviewing the property in such detail. We really do appreciate this as it gives us an opportunity to continue to improve on what is already a beautiful bush experience for our guests. Since your stay we have made many small tweaks to ensure that the guest experience is improved and the service level meets the expectations of our guests. We are now providing extra towels and sheets. We are investigating options in regards to our mattresses in the rooms. As we are a fully off grid property (solar power/rain water) we have to be very conscious of our water (showering) and power usage (lighting). We will be looking at solar options for the pathways moving forward. Rubbish in this remote area is also something we have to be very sensitive of due to the abundance of animals on the property. Your feedback will certainly be considered around the removal of this. Again, thank you for your honestly and constructive feedback relating to your stay. We are so happy that you found the cabins to be beautiful, along with the fire pit and dining area. A lot of care has gone into the design of these. Warmest regards, Bibi, Manager
