Although we had booked in advance there was no table available and we felt as though our appearance was both unexpected and inconvenient. Service throughout was indifferent-we had to ask for napkins and a wine list. The food was good but this is not an Italian restaurant. Most of the menu is given over to pizzas and beyond that there was an uninspired choice of 4 or 5 main courses. Not good value, not a good experience and not what we expected from somewhere aspiring to be the best hotel on the island.
The Blue Tropic is a restaurant and part of the wonderful Bequia Beach Hotel. It specialises in Italian cooking and is quite refined. On Thursday 14th they featured their first Sushi night. 13 of us visited and we were well pleased overall. Just a couple of picky points though - the Miso soup would have been better served in deep Japanese bowls rather than the traditional western soup bowls, the fish could have been better(stronger) marinated. I'm sure this will improve in time. So congratulations on an excellent first attempt - long may you continue.
