We stayed at the Cider Mill cottage for a week whilst looking after our grandchildren who had recently moved to the area. Helen (the owner) was very helpful and booking was quick and easy. We were greeted on arrival with a lovely welcome pack and found the cottage to be very clean and well maintained. The cottages are set in a beautiful location with lovely views all around. I would definitely recommend this cottage and hope to visit again. There are good walks in the area and plenty of places of interest to visit.
We had an excellent stay at The Durrance and found it to be a wonderful location for a family holiday. Helen was a great host and we even had a hamper of local produce on arrival. My kids enjoyed playing with the dogs in the garden while we had a glass of wine on the patio. We also enjoyed playing lots of tennis for which the tennis racquets and balls were all provided by Helen. Great location to visit Worcester, enjoyed the Queens Head for food and went kaiaking at the local sailing club. 5 stars all round, thank you.
The Durrance was a perfect place for our family to stay for our daughters wedding nearby - we hired all three properties. The generous basket of goodies on arrival, comfortable beds and use of tennis court and swing ball all added to the enjoyment of our stay. Owner friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend this venue
We stayed at the Durrance in the Farmhouse for six nights as three adults and had plenty of room, in fact excess room. Facilities for self catering and all were excellent though we spent much of our time out. The host Helen Hirons had left the space spotless for our arrival with a stocked hamper and huge chocolate cake also. Yum we ate all! The property is in a rural location with virtually no public transport facilities so if you are not a walker it may not be for you but we found plenty of footpaths and beautiful walks between locations we wanted to visit ie Dodford, Chaddesley Corbett and Bromsgrove. It was lovely to see the working farm and horses and meet the dog. I would happily stay again. Thankyou so much for your generosity and a peaceful fruitful stay.
After all the great reviews of this property we were looking forward to staying in the Oxen Cottage. It was pleasant staying in the country side with lovely views, and away from the bustle of the West Midlands. The Cottage was a reasonable size and some of the fittings had been updated recently such as the carpet. The lounge was a particularly cosy space and the kitchen was functional with a very good oven and stove top. We arrived to a thoughtful hamper of food. But we also discovered a very bad odour in the fridge which required us to completely clean it. The dishwasher filter was also a shock containing glass and plastic as well as generally dirty. Had not been cleaned for months. The shared laundry was grotty and the washing machine smelled. The bed linen was quite worn and the pillows had an off odour. The kitchen equipment was quirky to say the least. There were four casserole dish lids but only one casserole dish, and a mismatch of saucepans and lids. The only fry pan was huge. The cooking knives were blunt and there were no mixing bowls making cooking a challenge. Half of the pegs in the bag on the leaning clothes line were broken. The WiFi was a continuous source of angst, regularly dropping out or being as slow as dial up. As we had been reassured by the owner before booking that the internet connection was adequate, this was frustrating. There were a couple of malfunctions during our stay. A kitchen drawer became stuck and the hot water and heating failed for several days (we were able to shower in the main house). Having reported both matters, we would have expected a regular update on rectification progress. This was not forthcoming in any of these matters (and the drawer remained stuck up to the time of our departure trapping some of our supplies). In summary, while some of these criticisms may seem trivial, they added up to a disappointing stay. The Cottage has potential but needs some refurbishment and upgrading. In addition, the owners could show more interest in the guests' comfort.…
