We are over the moon excited with this place! VERY clean rooms. Love the suites. The fact that we can put the kids in the living area with their own bathroom was an added bonus! Love the attention to details they put into making our stay the very best. The hot breakfast was just an extra surprise!

The Sooner Suites are a terrific place to stay if you're either an Oklahoma Sooner or a visitor. Probably not if you're an Oklahoma State Cowboys lover.
The suites are brick, two-bedroom duplex cottages on-campus, between the dormitories and the law school. They look like they were last-furnished in the 1980s, but they've been kept up well and the decor is amazing.
Our suite (#401) was covered in framed Sooner jerseys, paintings, blankets, and even a scrapboard from the 2000 National Championship. The full kitchen had a stool emblazoned with the OU logo, and the trash cans were OU-branded. This is not generic lodging; you know where you are staying.
The rooms are rentable by the night to unaffiliated visitors, which describes our family, but you get the sense there are designed to be medium-term housing for visiting scholars and the like. It's comfy.
The rest of the university surrounds you. Campus Corner is a fifteen-minute walk across campus.
The free breakfast is nothing special, but Blake at the the front desk is super-helpful and friendly. Great, unique place to stay.

We love the Sooner Suites, returning every year for our family visit to Norman, OK. They are comfortable places to rest weary bodies, with the extra benefit of being within walking distance of the Sam Noble museums, Fred Jones art gallery, Campus Corner, baseball and softball (and other sports), and OU campus facilities. A friendly welcome is guaranteed, and if the nearby frat houses kick off, Norman Police are happy to 'have a word'.

I have stayed at the Sooner Suites several times over the past ten year. The last time being May 4-6, 2016 in Room 406.
Basically the Sooner Suites are seperate buldings or bungalows or duplexes if you want the proper term. There are two suites to each building that are separated from each by about 50-80 feet from each duplex in a open grass area all aroundthem with some trees. It is located really off of Timberdale across from the OU Law library. The two suites in the duplex/cottage are accessible within each by two seperate locked.
Each suite is pretty good size. Youenter in to a living room with a couch table and I believe a lazyboy in one conter. To the right from the entry is the dining table with a kithen next to it moving in. The kitchen has a full refrigerator(very small freezer section but can put a few items in it). The rest of the refrig is good size. You have a regular kitchen sink with a garbage disposal. On the conter is a small microwave and I have recalled in the past some rooms have a toaster oven in addition. Not sure about this room I was in. May have been in the cabinets. I also recall in the past a portable two oven top. In my room it was in the cabinet and in other rooms it may be on the counter. You also have the usual utensils(forks, knife, spoons,), glasses, and pot/pans. Essentially you could cook almost anything.
Going straight the entry door into the suite past the kitchen you into a very short hallwy with doors on all three sides. Two bedrooms with individual closets. The other room is the bathroom. All three rooms have doors on them. One bedroom has a television in it while the other does not. The living room has a good size flat screen televsion on the wall. I am guessing a 42 inch.
The only issue some people may not like about the suites is its age. The buildings were built prior to the 1960s and meant for married students back then. Known as the butt huts from what my parents who went to OU in the late 1950s told me. The walls inside are normal brick with a very high ceiling. The floor are carpeted though. It is a bit dark inside but there is plenty of large winows with curtains during the day. The bathroom is a bit dated but good enough in my opinion.
There is free WIFI, which is good in all the cotagge. I think each unit has its own access point.
You get a number of free amenties with cottage. This last time I was there I used the OU swimming pool which is about 120 yards due east. You can not miss it once you see the rail fence which surround ths outdoor pool. The indoor pool is next to it. The outdoor is an Olympic size pool. The indoor is an 8 25-yard lanes pool. Pretty active considering both high schools in Norman and another local swim team uses it. Call them to check their schedule.
I know you also have access to OU Fitness center with it as well. I will have to try that the next time I stay there. By the way you have to ask the front desk when you sign that you want to access these items in order for them to issue you a temporary OU card. You have to turn it in at the end of your stay or you pay a $10 fine for loosing it.
You can generally get a room at this place pretty much all year around except the OU football home game weekend where they are booked solid far in advance. I have tried and I was never successful in getting a weekend during a OU home game for ovious reason. With the exception of Holmberg(B&B), this hotel is probbably the closest hotel to the OU football stadium.
I would highly recommend this place if you are wanting to stay in central Norman or be on the OU campus. I also like it because it in a grassy area with not a lot of car traffic outside the suite. Not like being a hotel along a major street/highway with a lots people going in and out of the hotel area.
There are not many restaurants within walking distance. There is a Papa John pizza place about a 100 years north from the hotel in Stubbeman Village. You can not miss it. There is also a student caferia in the same direction. It a large circular bulding. Otherwise, you will have to go toward I-35 on Lindsay or to Campus corner for more restaurants.
There is a park nearby(Reeves Park) which you can take your children to. You go east on Timberdale(200 yards) till it dead ends and then head south or right. Go about 200-300 yards down until you come to the first left. You will find the playground equipment there along with picnic area.
Almost forgot to mention you get a free breakfast at this hotel that consist of cereal in a package, milk, orange/apple juice, coffee, muffin(refrigerated packag4ed). I think they offer bread with toaster as well but did not opt for it.
A nice quiet relaxing place to stay off the beat track with lots of college students around. I have always enjoyed my time here. It a place to come back to rest to after doing something outside during the day.

The kitchen had utensils (no oven) a dual burner on the countertop and a microwave. We walked all over campus from our suite-very accessible. The suites do not have laundry facilities. We walked across the parking lot to the university pool very close too. Breakfast was provided every morning-just cereal but also containers of milk if you run out in your suite. Housekeeping was great-I didn't do a dish for 2 weeks!
