Mikey and Sophie were brilliant hosts, accommodating from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The chalet was clean and had everything we needed, the food was up to a really good standard- especially when accommodating for people in our groups dietary requirements. I would recommend chalet victoria highly especially with such good chalet hosts as sophie and mikey.

The chalet is basic but functional and serves its purpose well, could it do with a bit of cash spent modernising it, of course, but when it comes down to it, it’s perfectly adequate. Our two Alpine Elements hosts, Mikey and Elsie, really made the stay what it was. Absolute credit to these two, who really made everyone feel welcome and that nothing was too much bother. Having done more ski seasons than I’d care to admit, I’m very picky when it comes to hosts, as frankly none will ever be as good as me 😜, but these two came pretty damn close! Well done.

Having been a repeat alpine customer I was excited for my trip with them this year. Unfortunately their conduct has proven them to be a dishonest and despicable organisation, who I will not use or recommend again.
Basic food safety standards were not maintained. There was no hand soap in the kitchen or staff toilet (vile), open tin cans were stored in the fridge, food was left out and our hosts were more interested in rushing to the pub than cleaning.
Unsurprisingly, as a result 10 of the 14 guests in our chalet picked up food poisoning, with symptoms starting 4 hours after eating an off-menu chicken tagine two days into our stay.
We experienced serve gastrointestinal symptoms. The company insisted it was norovirus caught during our journey to resort. Ignoring that those infected had traveled from three different locations and those that didn’t eat the chicken tagine in the chalet were not ill.
The 10 of us then spent the next 48 hours with unrelenting vomiting and explosive diahorrea. No bathroom in the chalet was spared.
Despite this, not once did the company consider doing a deep clean of the bathrooms, I pity the guests that stayed after us. This is particularly surprising given their view that we were suffering from highly transmissible norovirus rather than food poisoning.
Outside of their food safety failures the hosts also thought the best way to fix a beeping fire alarm was to simply remove the battery. Whilst this in itself could be seen as a function of employing young, poorly trained staff, we were shocked to hear that the Head of Operations had done a full inspection earlier in the week.
Truly, I do not know what these people are doing if a chalet with no hand soap or smoke detectors can pass an inspection by senior management.
Other notable c**k ups during the week include:
- Repeatedly trying to feed the coeliac in our group gluten
- Thinking it was acceptable to try and squeeze a couple in our party into a twin room that was so small the beds had to be at right angles
- Not providing our champagne reception (assumed this was drunk by hosts)
Despite all of the above concerns being well recorded and documented, to our horror they were ignored by the CEO and refuted with no evidence other than the word of his lying staff.
We genuinely thought the organisation would’ve taken our experience seriously to ensure this never happened to their guests again. We would’ve considered travelling with them again had their conduct been appropriate.
We deeply regret ignoring other reviews prior to booking, including those related to their fraudulent activities during covid. These give the greatest insight into the dishonesty of senior management and their disregard for their guests, which we have since experienced.

Appalling experience - avoid at all costs
I recently returned from an Alpine Elements run trip at Chalet Victoria in Meribel. From start to finish the entire experience was a disaster.
We arrived at a Chalet that had not been properly cleaned (dirty towels, remanence of food on the kitchen surface, bins in the bathrooms not been emptied), to find that one of the couples in our group had been allocated a single room with a second single bed included that meant there was no space to walk or put down their bags. This room wouldn't have been big enough for a couple for one night, let alone a week. The chalet more generally was nothing like the photos included on the website, and certainly not up to the standard you would expect having paid out more than £800 each to stay there.
We thought the week could only get better...but we we were wrong. On the second night our chalet hosts Pud and Geordie cooked an odd tasting chicken tagine. We didn't think much of it, until later that night when two of our group of six woke up experiencing severe food poisoning symptoms. Over the next 24 hours, every guest in the chalet who had eaten the tagine went down with the same food poisoning symptoms - the only ones spared were those who ate the vegetarian option. I won't go into details on the symptoms, but safe to say it was a truly horrendous 48 hours that followed. In hindsight it was not surprising that this happened, with poor hygiene practices used throughout the chalet - food left overnight on counters, open containers left on the side, no soap in the kitchen or staff bathroom and a chalet that looked like it had last been cleaned in the 2022/23 season.
Despite only those who ate the chicken coming down with the sickness, including a group separate to ours who we had not met prior to eating that meal, and the Meribel site manager Mr Jacob confirming that it was a result of food poisoning, upon our return the Alpine Elements CEO (Mr Hardiman) flatly refused to engage with the suggestion that it was anything to do with the practices of his staff. Furthermore, both Mr Hardiman and Mr Issac, the local operations manager, lied about the steps the staff took to protect customer safety (e.g. food temperature checks (there were no thermometers in the kitchen throughout the trip), regularly cleaning down surfaces (there were no cleaning materials in the chalet until after we complained having got sick), and regularly replenished stocks (the same jug of milk was left on the counter, without refrigeration for three days before being changed when it started to smell).
This incident and reaction from the senior leadership team at Alpine Elements is indicative of the careless approach they take to customer safety - a further example was demonstrated on our trip when a fire alarm was beeping due to being low on battery. Instead of replacing the battery, the chalet hosts simply removed the fire alarm and left it unplugged for the rest of the week. We also heard of an incident with another customer who got served a peanut brownie despite having a nut allergy, and when suffering an anaphylactic shock, the chalet host simply left for the evening. In response, Mr Hardiman offered them £22 in exchange for signing an NDA to not publicly disclose the issue...truly extraordinary.
I would urge anyone who is considering a trip with Alpine Elements to find another provider to go with instead - it's a shonky business designed to do nothing but get as much cash out of customers as possible whilst putting in as little effort.
