Open all Year to cater for 2 to 3 families in 4 Star comfort. With 4 bedrooms and 4 Bathrooms, it is the ideal holiday home in a peaceful part of the East Devon Countryside, but close to the coast in between Sidmouth and Lyme Regis. 2 twin rooms downstairs - one with ensuite and a common bathroom. All mod-cons are included such as Underfloor Heating, FreeView TV in Lounge and All Bedrooms and Internet Access. Awarded the 4 Star Grade for Comfort, Location & Decor by the English Tourism Council. The spacious garden has its own water fountain with views of green fields and the Axe Valley. A Peaceful retreat

My family and I stayed in The Stables on Whitwell Farm last week and we had a great time - especially as the sun shone all week. The cottage was large and comfortable plus each bedroom had an on-suite. Even though you were on a farm we were not bothered by anyone - infact the animals were a pleasant distraction - especially the ostrich. One small word of warning - you are on a working farm so expect animal sounds and smells - you are in the country!

Lovely ! Glad you all enjoyed it. We do our best to make it memorable for our visitors. The "countryside smell" that was mentioned was only a neighbouring farmer spreading manure - it only happens once a year ! Usually it is Pleasantly Fragrant around here !!

A real find!

My extended familiy and I recently celebrated my husbands 40th here, renting two of Mike's cottages. And we weren't disappointed. The cottages are in a superb location and offer real value for money. We enjoyed the space, the wood burner, walks in the grounds and the little touches such as milk and biscuits etc. for our late arrival. There is no doubt we'll be back. Thanks Mike!

Lovely setting close to Colyton Seaton

We all had a lovely week in this very pretty cottage. The accommodation is very spacious with the open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need, lots of crockery, saucepans and utensils. The bedrooms are a good size and all with en-suite bathrooms which when you have a couple of teenagers in the party is ideal (knowing how long they take to get ready!!). We spent quite a lot of time in the garden and it was great to have a barbecue which we made good use of. It was also lovely to see the horses and sheep in the adjoining fields and to be able to walk around the farm and fields. The children really liked "Nobby" the ostrich and enjoyed watching him doing his dance every time you visited him. This cottage is in a very central position for visiting the East Devon seaside resorts and there are lots to choose from i.e. Seaton, Beer, Lyme Regis, Branscombe, Exmouth etc. Would certainly recommend this cottage to anyone.

fantastic house, fantastic owners. everything fantastic

every thing was wonderful. house big and well kept. owners very friendly. enjoyed by 3 generations of the family and Heidi and ted the dogs!

The stable, colyton

Wow what a great place for rest and relaxation, which the host Mike was very attentive. The house was perfect for our family and grandchildren and the surrounding areas were amazing (subject to the English Weather of course)! The roads into the village need some attention by the local council and trim back the hedges though, be careful about your driving!

Thank you very much for your positive comments. The Stables is a grand accommodation and we are pleased you all had a good time and the cottage lived up to your expectations ! Exceeded expectations

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the stables. The cottage provided lots of space for our party of 8. It has character and is very well equipped from the abundance of kitchen equipment ( coffee filter machine was much appreciated as were the complimentary tea and biscuits upon arrival) to tv’s in each bedroom. Some lovely walks directly from the farm and also very well situated for touring the area. Pubs and fish and chip shop approx 1 mile or less, supermarket grocery delivery possible. Lovely views from the cottage and friendly helpful owner. Would love to visit again and definitely highly recommend.

Lovely stay in The Stables Colyton, Devon

Just returned from a lovely stay in The stables Colyton, Devon. Much appreciated the friendly welcome from Mike and the much needed tray of tea and biscuits, especially after the long drive down from Manchester. The Stables is a very spacious, yet homely dog friendly converted barn in East Devon. There are 4 bedrooms, 3 of which are ensuite and an extra family bathroom, very handy with 3 grown up children! An open plan living room and spacious kitchen gave us all plenty of room to have our own space. The views were beautiful, stretching across the farmland and beyond and we were even able to watch Nobby the ostrich from the living room window! There is a private garden with table, chairs and barbecue as well as a shared garden for ball games, exercising the dog etc and we were given free reign to explore the farmland too with the horses, sheep, chickens and not forgetting Nobby!! We were very fortunate in that the weather was warm and sunny for the 4 days we were there and so we were able to visit the pretty town of Colyton itself, as well as Seaton and Lyme Regis. The barn provides a great base for exploring East Devon and Dorset and we hope to return to explore further. We did have adjoining neighbours and Mike lived in the cottage opposite but we were not disturbed and felt our privacy was respected at all times, although we knew Mike was on hand to answer any queries. Thanks again to Mike for a lovely stay, we hope to return in the not too distant future.

Wonderful Review ! We used to milk cows twice a day in those buildings until the low milk price was forcing the overdraft up ! It's nice to know that our hard work (and enormous expense) in converting the buildings and its constant upkeep is appreciated !! Besides, I don't miss milking cows twice a day ! Hope to see you all again on day - Best Regards

Get together

Wow what a little Jem we have found As a family we have been traveling to seaton / Devon now for 10 years for our annual siblings get together We have been in staying in different location but this little Jem beats them all The whole place was very pleasant and very thing about the place was just perfect It’s that nice we as a family have already decided to return next year The parsons family

Perfect

We could only stay for the weekend, but wished it could have been longer. Great location, loads for an extended family to do. Clean, well equipped and welcoming. Very much hoping we will be able to stay again in future. Only thing that could have made it better for us was a third double bed , but not really that important. Lovely place.

Wonderfully comfortable and homely accommodation.

We spent two nights at Stable Cottage and wished we could stay longer. It was so relaxing and comfortable. The views are grand and even though there are properties adjacent it was so quiet. We will be back!
